The Shawshank redemption.
The Shawshank redemption is, my opinion one of the greatest movies of all time. The plot, the actors, the overall combination of the two creates a mix which is explosive and dramatic. The very fact that there is no mention of a prison break for almost the entire movie, makes the ending fascinating and very dramatic.
After the beginning, we all thought that Andy Dufresne who was played brilliantly by Tim Robbins, was guilty. The amazing way he was proved not guilty was from his protege, who was shot and killed by the wardens gunmen. Andy once again proved that he was not only innocent, but probably the nicest guy in the prison. Than we have Red, who was played brilliantly by Morgan Freeman, who’s friendship with Andy “knew no bounds”.
Andy’s hobbies, his everlasting optimism, his calm, cool, and collection self, and let’s not forget his genius, gave the impression of a person that’s going to live and succeed no matter what. Let’s also not forget, when you get close to him,(to harm him)he won’t be his regular calm self.
So with rape and murder, extortion, and just the overall prison life, what was Andy thinking? Was he thinking on getting out on good time? Or waiting out the remainder of his sentance? We don’t know till the end, but we do know that he wasn’t doing nothing about it. He was enlisted by the warden, to be his personal accountant. This included embezzlement, fraud, etc. Thus we have Andy, in for a murder, doing tax returns for all the prison guards!!
So Andy is protected for the most part, doing good deeds for the prisoners, which includes creating a library with hundreds or thousands of books. A couple years pass, everything is regular until one day. Andy’s gone.
Where is Andy? The entire prison guards, police, everyone was searching for Andy. Andy escaped by hammering a tunnel, with a small 10 inch stone chisel, which was thought to take hundreds of years to do, andy did it in 10. He climbed through miles of sewage to get to his safety. All in all as was stated previously, this was the best combination of plot, actors, drama, and ending; my opinion.
